In 2019, a Dutch study published in the world's authoritative journal Nature Communications found that arthritis does not entirely result from excessive use (aging), it is likely the body's inflammation caused by intestinal bad bacteria triggering the inflammatory substance for abrasion the joints and arthritis (Boer CG., et al., Nat Commun. 2019)
"In the past, it was often believed that obesity was the root cause of arthritis because of the weight. However, we found that the obesity is nothing to do with degenerative arthritis, but intestinal bacterial disorders. That is, obesity and inflammation is just a side effect of gut microbiome disorders." The research team said.

According to the research from the University of Rochester in 2018, "As the inflammation releasing, it will protect the articular cartilage and avoid joint deformation. As long as the GI ecology changing, the health of the joints will actually improve and further trigger cartilage regeneration” (Shott EM., et al., JCI Insight. 2018).
